Significance of Kansa Vadh
Kansa Vadh is one of the most significant festivals in Hindu cosmology. It is celebrated on Dashami tithi of Shukla paksha in the Kartik month of the Hindu lunar calendar. There is a notable legend linked to the Kansa Vadh celebration. Kansa was an evil ruler of Mathura who created havoc with his brutal actions. Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, took incarnation to kill Ravana. It was prophesied that Ravana would see ultimate death by his sister Devaki and her husband Vasudev's child. In hate, Ravana killed seven children of his sister and tried attacking Krishna many times too, who was the eighth child of his sister.
