Chhath Puja is a glorious occasion dedicated to the supreme Lord Sun. Sun brings an enchanting aura and illumination to life. Lord Sun is the most supreme godhead in Hindu cosmology. Chhathi Maiya is the main deity revered on Chhath Puja. She is the sixth manifestation of goddess Parvati and the mighty Lord Sun’s sister.  

Significance of Chhath Puja
Chhath Puja is one of the most significant festivals observed in the Kartik month of the Hindu lunar calendar. It is observed six days right after the Diwali celebration. The festival is primarily celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. This glorious festivity discovers its origin in the times of Rigveda. Chhath puja came into prominence when Pandavas celebrated it to eliminate their feudal problems. The festival was first observed by Karna, son of supreme Lord Sun and his wife Kunti. 

How to celebrate Chhath Puja?
Devotees cherish the Chhath Puja with great arrangements and in pompous ways. The festival is celebrated by taking dips in holy water and worshipping the Sun lord. Chhath puja is celebrated by observing a 36-hour long nirjala fast. They prepare various savouries including- Kaddoo Bhaat, thekua and Chana dal. Nahay Khay is the first ritual associated with Chhath Puja in which a holy dip in water is taken. Kharna is the second day of this festivity which includes celebrating and especially making a kheer with rice and jaggery. On the third day of Chhath puja, a dedicated fast is observed and Sandhya Arghya or a puja ceremony is performed devoted to supreme Lord Sun. All the ceremonies of Chahath puja culminate on the fourth day or the Paran din.
