Mokshada Ekadashi

Mokshada Ekadashi- Devoted to the supreme Lord Vishnu
Mokshada Ekadashi is one of the supreme festivities dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The commanding Lord Vishnu is an integral part of the Vedic realm. He plays the role of guardian and protector of the universe. He shattered all the evil energies and enemies with his enormous powers bringing eternal boons into their life.

Significance of Mokshada Ekadashi
Margashirsha Mokshada Ekadashi is one of the most significant occasions in Hindu cosmology. The importance of this specific Ekadashi has been elaborated by the Supreme Lord Krishna himself to the Pandava King Yudhisthira. This particular incident is gloriously described in the epic Mahabharata and Brahmanda Purana.

Following is the legend linked with Mokshada Ekadashi-
Once there was a king called Vaikhanasa who ruled Champaknagar. He loved his kingdom and its people immensely. One day the king had a dream that his father is rotting and having a difficult time in hell. The King was frightened after the nightmare and consulted Parvat Muni, the great sage of the mountains, to get his problem resolved. Parvat Muni told the king that his father indulged in disputes with his wife and had intercourse with her when she was menstruating. King Vaikhanasa observed the Mokshada Ekadashi with immense dedication and devotion and chanted the glories of Lord Vishnu. His penance worked, and his father got liberated from all his sins and got a place in heaven.
How to celebrate Mokshada Ekadashi?
Mokshada Ekadashi is celebrated by observing a fast dedicated to the supreme Lord Vishnu. Devotees wake up early, take a bath and observe the fast. They organise a special puja by presenting devotional offerings and lighting lamps. Intake of cereals, especially rice, is strictly banned on Mokshada Ekadashi.
