Following is the legend linked with Mokshada Ekadashi-
Once there was a king called Vaikhanasa who ruled Champaknagar. He loved his kingdom and its people immensely. One day the king had a dream that his father is rotting and having a difficult time in hell. The King was frightened after the nightmare and consulted Parvat Muni, the great sage of the mountains, to get his problem resolved. Parvat Muni told the king that his father indulged in disputes with his wife and had intercourse with her when she was menstruating.
