Ganesh Chaturthi

About the commanding Lord Ganesha
Lord Ganesha or Lord Ganapati is a supreme divinity in Hindu cosmology. He is the son of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. The imperial deity is the godhead of wisdom and proficiency. He removes all the obstacles from his devotee’s life granting them peace and bliss.
Significance of Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most important festivals of the Vedic realm. It celebrates the birth of the mighty Lord Ganesha. It falls on Shukla Chaturthi of the Bhadrapada month of the Hindu lunar calendar. This pious festival finds significant importance in Shiva Purana, Skanda and Ganesha Purana.

The renowned legends narrate that goddess Parvati created Lord Ganapati from the dirt of her body, After giving birth to Ganesha, Goddess Pravati assigned him an important duty. He commanded Ganapati that he should safeguard the door's entry into the cave until she takes a bath. Lord Ganesha followed her commands and started safeguarding the entrance. Meanwhile, Lord Shiva entered the cave but Ganesh tried his best to stop him. Ganesha stopped Shiva from entering and this infuriated the mighty Shiva. Lord Shiva then shredded Ganesha’s head in anger, unknown by the fact that he is his son only. When goddess Parvati saw the plight of Ganesha, she got mad at Lord Shiva and told him that he beheaded his son. Later, all the divinities got collected to revive Lord Ganesha. He was brought back to life by placing the head of a baby elephant on his body. Lord Shiva granted Ganesha a powerful boon that whenever any puja ceremony takes place, he will be the first deity to be worshipped.
