When goddess Parvati saw the plight of Ganesha, she got mad at Lord Shiva and told him that he beheaded his son. Later, all the divinities got collected to revive Lord Ganesha. He was brought back to life by placing the head of a baby elephant on his body. Lord Shiva granted Ganesha a powerful boon that whenever any puja ceremony takes place, he will be the first deity to be worshipped.
